Expeditionary Healthcare is motivated every day by the incredible women who are passionate about delivering the best healthcare worldwide and #BreaktheBias for equity, inclusion and diversity. As AMI celebrates Women’s History Month and women making history on the frontlines of healthcare, we give kudos to the female employees who continuously rise by lifting others.
Today, we celebrate Alana Gallardo from AMI Australia. Growing up watching her very ill mother go in and out of hospitals, Gallardo helped care for her the best she could. This experience inspired Alana to pursue a career in healthcare. “In nursing, even if it is the smallest act of kindness, you’ve made a tremendous difference in someone’s life,” Gallardo wholeheartedly shares.

Alana joined AMI in December of 2021 to support the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).
RFDS is one of the largest and most comprehensive aeromedical organizations in the world, providing health care and emergency services in rural and remote Outback Australia for more than 90 years.
Her work involves patient transfers with RFDS’s PC-12 aircraft in Australia’s outback Oodnadatta, delivering health services that are necessary, but difficult to obtain, such as urgent organ transplant and inter-hospital transfers for specialist treatment.

The RFDS goes into town at least once a month to deliver health services the community needs, yet are not able to access. “My goal is to ensure each and every individual gets the appropriate level of care they require no matter where they are located in Australia – remote, rural or metropolitan areas and I’d like to thank AMI for the opportunity to do that.”

“In the short time that Alana has been with AMI, she has made an impact in the clinics she has worked. She is not afraid to get in there and get the job done. A flexible, hard worker, and an asset to AMI,” gleams Pat Zeppieri, AMI Australia Recruitment Officer.
“We are really proud of the work Alana is doing to support such a worthy enterprise in the remotest of regions!” proudly shares Grant Matthews, AMI Australia’s Managing Director.
