The AMI Curaçao team consists of world-class ICU doctors and nurses from all over the globe. Our clinicians worked through the various stages of the pandemic in their home countries before traveling halfway across the world to support the Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) in their battle against COVID-19. AMI has navigated multiple COVID surges since the project’s inception in March of 2020, working alongside their dedicated colleagues at CMC.
For many of the team members, this was their first time working internationally in expeditionary healthcare, and they certainly rose to the occasion, both inside and outside the hospital. During an especially devastating surge in the Spring of 2021, our clinicians worked around the clock to provide exceptional patient care without complaint.
Deputy Project Manager Hannah Hightower shared, “Outside of the CMC ICU, many of our clinicians have been active in the local community as they explore the beautiful island of Curaçao. On any given day, you can find a member of the Curaçao crew attending salsa class, hiking the scenic trails in Westpunt, volunteering in an animal shelter, or meeting with a tutor to learn the local dialect Papiamento.”
