The ‘Give Hope, Save Lives’ Pink Friday Health Fair and Pink Party Fundraiser, organized by The Thinking Pink Breast Cancer Foundation, were huge successes! Over 250 screenings were conducted by AMI Sierra Leone‘s nurses and lab techs, including tests for Hepatitis B, Malaria, Typhoid, and HIV (by consent only), as well as eye exams, blood sugar, blood pressure checks, and breast exams. “People were very impressed with the AMI team during the event, kudos to them,” says Kadie-Yatta Kallon, AMISL Country Manager.
Dr. Ryan Azcueta, Deputy Global Medical Director of AMI, presented a check to a breast cancer patient in order to begin her treatment. The Pink Party fundraising bid for the ‘Give Hope, Save Lives’ cake was won by AMI. Funds received will be used for the purchase of two chemotherapy sessions for patients with breast cancer.
Program partners and guests included the Orange Foundation, Irish Aid, AYV Television, Capital Radio, EcoMed, CitiGlobe, UMC Eye clinic, Skype Bank, Uman Tok, The KidZone, and representatives from the Ministry of Health and Sanitation.
