Hearts are overflowing with gratitude, as Gordon Manor Nursing Facility residents of San Mateo, California sing and dance with cardboard cutouts of AMI Expeditionary Healthcare staff during their Gratitude Concert 2021 Celebration. “The BEST doctors were with us through the worst of times,” Gordon Manor shares. Patients and staff held a Gratitude Concert to commend how AMI’s Deputy Global Medical Director Dr. Ryan Azcueta, and the AMI staff responded and intervened to help them during the COVID-19 outbreak. “It is because of their help that COVID was stopped in its tracks and didn’t take over the entire community and staff of Gordon Manor.”
From Gordon Manor
On a beautiful sunny “climate best by government test” Redwood City Spring day, we, the residents and staff of Gordon Manor gathered on the fire pad in the garden to celebrate our gratitude for this past year.
This fire pad was the location of the strike team headquarters for the fateful four weeks of expert assistance during the height of the COVID outbreak at Gordon Manor. It is because of their help that COVID was stopped in its tracks and didn’t take over the entire community and staff of Gordon Manor. They walked with us and led us through the COVID fire, and we emerged stronger and more determined to do the best for our residents and staff, and the greater community.
In the ensuing months, we are grateful for the expert clinicians and public health officers who have guided us all along the way. To celebrate, we invited the band ConTigo to re-infuse us and revive us with the spirit and energy of music. We did revive, remembering what it is like to move and be moved by the magic of music and coming together with a sense of community and belonging.
Many of our current staff were not with us during the outbreak, many of our residents weren’t either, but as we celebrate gratitude for the commemoration of the closing down of the hot zone, we will remind them and instill in them the lessons that we learned. Community and caring. Connection and commitment. Examples from all of those who stepped in and stepped up to help us. We needed help, and they (you) made all the difference. Together, we built a beautiful camaraderie and friendship that will sustain us into the future.
Thank you so much to everyone. We are here because of you.
