Dr. Andrew Walker is a co-founder and the Chairman of AMI. Over the last 20 years he has led teams that have developed and commercialized a range of successful businesses in healthcare and other sectors. In 2003, Andrew co-Founded Aspen Medical but after recognizing that Aspen’s company’s values were no longer aligned with his, decided to separate from Aspen and demerge the company in order develop its’ international arm: Aspen Medical International (now AMI).
In 2016, he, was Ernst & Young’s “Australian Entrepreneur of the Year” and has been twice inducted into the EY Entrepreneur Global Hall of Fame. Prior to going into business Andrew served as an Officer with the Australian Army as both an Infantry and Medical Platoon Commander. Andrew is also the current Chairman of the Pan Asia Chapter (Gold) of the Young President Organization. He has graduate and postgraduate qualifications in Medicine and Medical Science (Hons) from Newcastle University (and on graduation was awarded the AMA prize for 1986), is a Fellow of the International College of Surgeons and has earned an MBA from Melbourne Business School. In 2016 Andrew was awarded the University of Newcastle’s National Leadership Award.
